Route 70 Repair Work to Continue through November

Route 70 is undergoing extensive surface repairs in order to make the roadway smoother and safer for all motorists, in advance of a major overhaul slated for sometime in 2019/2020. The 2016 repairs involve concrete work, milling and repaving of the road surfaces, and re-striping of lines. This resurfacing is being accomplished in two phases:

Phase 1 is from Haddonfield Road to the NJ Turnpike.

Phase 2 is from the Pennsauken Township line to Haddonfield Road, and then from the NJ Turnpike to the Evesham Township border.

The majority of this work is being performed overnight, but there will be occasional daytime operations which will affect traffic flow through Cherry Hill Township. At least one lane will be closed daily between the overnight hours of 9 pm and 6 am, seven days per week, for several months. There also will be occasional daytime closures in areas where there are more than two lanes, and these closures will be from 9 am through 3 pm each day. Advance warning will be provided by NJDOT through the use of electronic message boards and permanent signs. There will always be at least one lane of Route 70 maintained at all times, and the work will be performed in only one direction at a time.

These daily closures will continue through approximately November 2016. Advance notice will be provided if there are any changes and when the work interferes with any intersections where police are needed to assist with traffic control. Thank you for your patience and understanding as this long-term project begins. Please feel free to contact CHPS at (856) 429-5600, extension 4371, with any questions, as we have open lines of communication with the NJDOT Project Managers.
