Besides running the school "clinic" where children are seen for injuries and illness, the school nurse also screens students annually for vision, hearing, blood pressure, height and weight.  Students who are ten years and above are screened annually for scoliosis.

Elementary school nurses also teach health classes which include family life and self-protection as mandated by state law and school district policy.  A copy of the health curriculum is available in the nurse's office and on the district website under the heading, curriculum.
