Besides running the school "clinic" where children are seen for injuries and illness, the school nurse also screens students annually for vision, hearing, blood pressure, height and weight.  Students who are ten years and above are screened for scoliosis.

Elementary school nurses also teach some health classes, including family life education as mandated by state law and school district policy.  A copy of the family life curriculum is available in the nurse's office and on the district website under the heading, curriculum.
