Influenza is highly contagious and can be a major health problem if institutions do not take action to prevent the spread of this disease. You can find out more influenza at the Centers for Disease Control website: http://www.flu.gov/ but also remember:
Teach your children good hygiene practices: cover all coughs and sneezes with a tissue or sleeve
Wash hands after coughing or sneezing and frequently. Use soap, water, friction and time (at least 20 seconds), rinse well and dry hands
STAY HOME if ill and DO NOT RETURN to school until your child is fever free for a full 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication
Please make sure that we have all the necessary emergency contact information available to the nurse and school office so that we can send your child home if she/he shows signs of illness.
Children who are absent for 5 or more consecutive days will need to present with a note from a physician stating he/she was under the care of the physician and is no longer contagious and able to return to school.
