Thank you for your interest in the Superintendent Search process for the Cherry Hill Public Schools. We are offering multiple opportunities for community engagement as we move forward in selecting a new superintendent.

We have contracted with the search firm Hazard Young Atea Associates (HYA) to conduct our search. Below is the job description HYA has posted:

    Job Description

Cherry Hill is a 24-square mile area located in southern New Jersey, about 20 minutes from Philadelphia, 90 minutes from New York City, one hour from Atlantic City and three hours from Washington, D.C.

The area’s original inhabitants were Lenni-Lenape Native Americans who peacefully co-existed with English settlers- followers of William Penn- who arrived in the late 1600s. In 1695, the English formed the community of Waterford Township, one of the original townships of old Gloucester County. The community had a long, varied, and successful existence as an agricultural center and mill town.

On March 13, 1844, residents held a town meeting and incorporated as Delaware Township which became part of the newly organized Camden County. A description of Delaware Township, in 1886, depicted a “prosperous agricultural community” composed chiefly of gristmills and carriage-making shops. * On November 7, 1961, residents voted to rename the community Cherry Hill Township.
