Half Day/Senior Option
Half Day Senior Option Procedures
Seniors are eligible for an early dismissal if they are on track to meet graduation requirements by May of their senior year, and must meet one of the eligibility requirements listed below:
- Employed at a part-time job
- Taking a college course
- Completing an internship (school based or independent)
- Volunteering
Students must meet with their school counselor to ensure that they are on track for graduation.
Students must complete a Senior Option form provided by the school. The form requires students to provide a description of one of the above activities and to possibly provide documentation of participation in above activity. This form will be reviewed and approved by a school administrator. After students are approved for Senior Option/Early Dismissal, they will meet with their school counselor to amend their schedule. Students participating in a ½ day are dismissed at 10:30 am and must leave the building by 11:30 am. Students must take four credit bearing classes in their ½ day schedule. There is no bus transportation at the conclusion of the ½ day; therefore, students are responsible for their own transportation home or to alternate locations based on their approved activity for Senior Option. All required forms and documentation are due to the school counselor and subject to approval from the principal
