NJ FamilyCare Program

New Jersey FamilyCare provides quality, free or low-cost health coverage for uninsured children 18 and younger, and low-income parents.  FamilyCare is not a welfare program it offers full health coverage through a variety of recognized Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs).

A new law, P.L. 2008, c.38, (S-1557), requires all children 18 and younger to have health insurance coverage beginning July 2009, one year after enactment of the new law.  Coverage can be provided through an employer-sponsored plan, an individual plan or NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid.  Parents who earn too much to qualify for NJ FamilyCare can purchase health insurance for their children at reasonable rates through the NJ FamilyCare ADVANTAGE buy-in program.

To find out if you are eligible, to enroll, or for more information call 1-800-701-0710 or visit: www.njfamilycare.org
