Principal's Updates

  • Ms. LaVonda Daniels joined the Abington School District in August 2006 as a teacher at Highland Elementary School. She has had the privilege of fostering student success in the classroom teaching grades two, three, four, five and six. As a sponsor of the building Service Learning program, she started The Highland Elementary, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Day of Service. For nearly a decade, donations collected and packaged from this day of service assisted children and families through partnerships with local organizations. In 2017, Ms. Daniels was promoted to the position of Elementary Curriculum Specialist at Overlook Elementary School. In 2019, she was promoted to Assistant Principal at both Abington Junior and Senior High schools. 

    Ms. Daniels earned her Bachelor of Arts from Howard University in Washington, D.C. She earned her first Master’s Degree in Education from Temple University. She earned her second Master’s Degree in Reading (with Distinction) from Cabrini College along with her Reading Specialist K-12 Certification. Ms. Daniels earned her third Master’s Degree from Gwynedd Mercy University in Educational Administration along with her Principal’s K-12 Certification. As a lifelong learner, she is currently pursuing her doctorate in Educational Leadership at Gwynedd. Ms. Daniels enjoys spending time with her family and traveling especially when visiting her hometown, Louisville, Kentucky, where she was born and raised. She and her husband have twin sons, Justin and Jordan. 

    Most recently, Ms. Daniels served as the principal of Davis Elementary School in Bucks County, Upper Southampton, Pennsylvania from 2021-2023.  

    Grateful for the opportunity to serve the district as the principal of Joyce Kilmer Elementary School, Ms. Daniels looks forward to working with the students, staff, and the community.
