Superintendent
Dr. Kwame R. Morton was appointed Superintendent of the Cherry Hill Public Schools on April 9, 2024, after serving as Acting Superintendent since July 2023. He formerly served as an Assistant Superintendent PreK-12/Curriculum and Instruction in Cherry Hill Public Schools. He was named 2021 NJ Visionary Principal of the Year/ National Association of Secondary School Principals’ NJ State Principal of the Year for his work as principal of Cherry Hill High School West. Prior to serving as the principal of Cherry Hill High School West from 2013-2021, he served as the principal of Joyce Kilmer Elementary School beginning in 2008.
Prior to his time in Cherry Hill, while serving as the principal of Frederick Douglass Elementary School (Philadelphia, Pa), Dr. Morton obtained a National Turnaround Specialist Credential. Dr. Morton began his career in the New York City Department of Education where he spent approximately 10 years serving as a teacher and school administrator.
Dr. Morton has a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from NorthCentral University, a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from The College of Saint Rose, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Clarion University of PA.
While at Clarion University, Dr. Morton participated as a standout member of the men’s basketball team. He was named the Basketball Times 1994 NCAA Division II Player of the Year and he still holds several school records. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi social fraternity. He and his wife April are the proud parents of 10 children and two grandchildren.

Membership in this elite network grants Cherry Hill Public Schools the opportunity to collaborate with some of the nation’s most forward-thinking educational leaders. It provides access to cutting-edge technology initiatives, pioneering research partnerships, and innovative strategies to address today’s complex educational challenges.
Additionally, as part of this membership, Cherry Hill Public Schools is proud to participate in this year’s Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools High School Redesign and Student Voice and Engagement Learning Collaborative. Through this initiative, the district is further emphasizing its dedication to reimagining education, amplifying student voices, and creating enriched learning experiences that empower every student to succeed.
