A letter from the Superintendent

A letter from the Superintendent

Dear Cherry Hill Community,

I am excited to share several key administrative recommendations that will be presented for Board action at the July 22, 2025, meeting. These recommendations are the result of extensive and thorough interview processes, ensuring that each candidate was carefully evaluated to select the best fit for these important leadership roles.

First, I am pleased to announce my recommendation of Ms. Wendy Wong for the position of Curriculum & Instruction Supervisor, with a focus on secondary mathematics and science. A dedicated educator in our district for 22 years, Ms. Wong has consistently demonstrated exceptional teaching expertise and leadership. Her unique experience includes 14 years as an elementary teacher and 8 years as a middle school science teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Rutgers University, a Master of Science in Integrated Science from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master of Education in Administration & Leadership from Georgian Court University. I am confident that Ms. Wong’s deep knowledge, passion for education, and commitment to student success will greatly enhance our curriculum and instruction team.

Additionally, I am recommending Mr. Sean Sweeney as the new principal of Joyce Kilmer Elementary School. Mr. Sweeney is a familiar and respected leader in Cherry Hill, having served as the principal of Clara Barton Elementary School for eight years. His extensive experience as a building leader also includes five years as a principal and assistant principal in the Mount Laurel School District. Most recently, he has been serving as the Director of Human Resources for Washington Township Public Schools. Mr. Sweeney holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Penn State University and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Rider University. His proven leadership and dedication to fostering a positive school culture will undoubtedly benefit the Joyce Kilmer community.

Finally, I am recommending Ms. Lauren Giordano as the new principal of Johnson Elementary School, succeeding Mr. Jared Peltzman who was recently appointed as the Curriculum & Instruction Supervisor for elementary mathematics and science. A proud product of Cherry Hill, Ms. Giordano has deep ties to the district as a former student, teacher, and administrator. She is widely recognized for her outstanding work in transforming the Coles Alternative Program into a model of excellence. Additionally, her expertise in curriculum and instruction is noteworthy, having served as the Director of Special Services for Clementon Public Schools for three years. Ms. Giordano holds a Bachelor of Science in History from Rutgers University and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. Her passion for people and her commitment to the success of every student made her an excellent choice to lead Johnson Elementary School.

I am confident that these appointments will bring tremendous value to our district. Each of these individuals brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and vision that will positively impact the schools and communities they serve.

As always, I thank you for your continued support of Cherry Hill Public Schools. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kwame Morton, Sr.
Superintendent, Cherry Hill Public Schools
