CLC

  • The 2019 Cadet Leadership Course (CLC) is scheduled for 22-29 June at Fort Dix, NJ. Basic cadets (cadets attending the course for the 1st time) depart on Sunday, 23 June from Cherry Hill High School West. Staff cadets (cadets who've attended CLC in previous years) will depart on Saturday, 22 June from Cherry Hill West High School. Cadets will arrive no later than 0745 in the east parking lot (classroom/Kennedy Health side). Cadets will arrive in PT gear but have all other required gear to include ABUs with them. We'll conduct a quick equipment check prior to departing on the bus. You must have all required gear as outlined in the application attachment below. Bus will depart no later than 0815 for Ft Dix.

Expect to check in, be inspected and get your dorm room settled immediately upon arrival at Ft Dix. Staff cadets will take the PT test on Saturday morning or afternoon while basic cadets will take the test on Sunday morning or afternoon. PT standards are outlined in the attached application.

YOU WILL ARRIVE IN SHAPE AND WITHIN GROOMING STANDARDS! Don't stop exercising after we're done testing at school. CLC policy dictates that any cadet who fails any portion of the PT test will have one opportunity to retest the following day. Any cadet who fails the retest is sent home and will need to be picked up by a parent or family member.

If you arrive at the high school without the required gear and haircut, you run the risk of being sent home and eating the $120 cadet fee. Cadet fee reimbursement guidelines are as follows:

100% refund if written notification of cancellation is received by 15 May

50% refund if written notification of cancellation is received by 2 June

No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after 15 June

Thoroughly review all attachments below with your parent or guardian. All attendees must complete the application in full, pay the cadet fee, and return to the SASI or ASI NO LATER THAN Thursday, 9 May.  The $120 CLC fee is to be paid in cash (preferable) or check. Write the check to Cherry Hill High School West. The fee pays for items such as room & board, medical support, hats, supplies, and on-base transportation. DEADLINE FOR THE $120 CADET FEE, APPLICATION, and LIABILITY FORM IS THURSDAY, 9 MAY. GIVE THE CASH OR CHECK TO LT COL SCHWARTZ OR SMSGT BENDER.

DO NOT BRING ANYTHING ON THE "WHAT NOT TO BRING" CHECKLIST! IT WILL BE CONFISCATED SOON AFTER ARRIVAL, AND YOU'LL HIGHLIGHT YOURSELF IN A NEGATIVE MANNER. AND DO NOT BRING CELLPHONES! Cadets aren't permitted to call home unless under extenuating circumstances and only when directed by the SASI/ASI.

ESTIMATED COST: $120 for the cadet fee + cost of the Air Battle Uniform (ABUs) and required items on the "What to Bring" checklist that's attached below. Total estimated cost is around $120-$450, depending on whether you already have many of the items or getting the more expensive items like the sage green boots on sale. The estimated cost includes the $120 cadet fee.

ABUs are required to have the white AFJROTC patch centered on the left pocket, and the black & purple unit patch centered on the right pocket. ABUs must also have the nameplate (last name only) centered above the right pocket, and AFJROTC centered above the left pocket. See attachment below. See the SASI and/or ASI for the AFJROTC and unit patches. Thomas Nametags (www.thomastags.com) is a good place to order the ABU nameplate & AFJROTC plate from. Order online, and they will arrive at your doorstep within a week. uspatriottactical.com/us-patriot-deals-closeouts/, militaryclothing.com, and armynavypx.com are also good places to order ABUs and ABU items. They have everything you need at a reasonable price. Orders normally arrive at your doorstep from 7-14 business days. Amazon is another site, and of course, if you know somebody with a military ID you can visit the military clothing store at JBMDL.  See SASI or ASI with any questions or concerns.  SO THE CADET ORDERS WHAT'S NEEDED/REQUIRED.  THE SASI/ASI WILL HAVE THE ABU PATCHES AND NAMEPLATES PLACED ON THE ABU AND RETURN BACK TO THE INDIVIDUAL CADET.

Staff Cadets: Don't forget to bring your rank and ABU cap!

Basic/1st-year CLC cadets will be issued an AFJROTC baseball cap to wear with the ABUs some time after arrival. Staff cadets must wear the ABU caps so place one on order if you don't already have one.
